Sunny branding photoshoot in East London with Amy from Fields Photography Stories

Amy is the ultimate wild women. She runs two businesses, one a photography brand focusing on maternity, newborn babies and family shoots and the other a space for photographers to play, learn, grow and be wild. Everything she does is to provide joy and capture precious memories for everyone she works with and she’s not afraid to show her personality and get a little bit weird (legit she lay down in the middle of a bandstand in Arnold Circus next to a bike because the stripey light was nice. Definitely put on a show for the Londoners just casually eating their lunch in the sun!)

Amy wanted to encapsulate her multiple interests into her shoot and show her lifestyle authentically and packed full of her personality so she took me around her local area from her favourite coffee shop, to where she rides her bike with her kids and even into her bedroom where she wanted to include a chair that was special to her as it was where she breastfed her two babies.

The photoshoot was magical. Even though we started off with complete chaos. I turn up on the doorstep to Amy’s home and she tells me to wait there, chucks some shoes on and sprints out the door yelling something about leaves. Then comes back and tells me to get the camera out we’re starting now.

Sidenote: usually my shoots start with a cup of coffee and a chat and we both relax into the whole thing but if you’re going to bring a creative vision to the table then I’m happy to comply.

So the big drama was the big vision we had of kicking through the autumnal leaves was potentially in jeopardy because Hackney council had, that day, decided to send out the bin men for a big clear up.

But being the creative people we were, we jumped straight in ahead of where the clear up was happening, and much to the amusement of the bin men, we started frolicking like toddlers in the leaves. The photos feel raw and excited, full of enjoyment giggles and hilarity (kind of hard to avoid when you are literally rolling around in leaves like a puppy discovering autumn for the first time).

Once that energy-filled, miniature, kick-off shoot had finished we calmed down the pace and went into Amy’s home, made a cuppa and took some portraits. The brief was ‘classic portraits where people surround themselves with the things that are important to them’. So that is exactly what we did. These portraits are some of my favourite I have ever taken. I often prefer to be outside with energy and quirkiness to really encourage my client out of their shell, but there is something about these that makes my heart sing.

And one day Amy is going to build her business empire and I hope these are the photos she submits to Vogue.

From there we filled the day with coffee, pastries, park walks and golden sunlight. Something only a gorgeous autumn or very early spring day can give you. These pictures were all taken in the last week of November! We spent the whole day together so we had a chance to chat, get comfy, get creative and collaborate, even hiring bikes to be able to fit in even more locations and get as much variety as possible for the year of content ahead.

Getting branding photos allows you to relax knowing you a) had a really fun, empowering shoot and you got to hang out with me all day and b) you have a personalised stock image library of images that show your full personality in a simple glance. It’s a no brainer to invest in professional photography for your business when you put it like that.

Post shoot we celebrated with an epic Dishoom meal, a delicious bottle of wine and more business brainstorming so we both left inspired and satiated and I am so lucky that I get to call these experiences with cool business owners my JOB.

Amy then received sneak peeks the day after her shoot (which she started using on her social media immediately!) and her full gallery 3 weeks later so that she could jump into 2024 with a freshly revamped website all organised and ready to go.

Here’s what she had to say about the shoot:

“I am BLOWN AWAY by the range of images [Becky] captured. I highly recommend her VIP branding shoot shoot day - having someone follow you around with a camera all day feels incredibly induldgent but I have images to last me all year now for my own business and social media, plus I had a great time! The investment is more than worth is, and Becky has such amazing energy when she is shooting, bringing out your silliness and fun side.”
